Tina Tam,

Tina’s family journey in Canada began in Tiohtià:ke/Montreal, where she was born, and she grew up mostly in Tkaronto/Toronto where she started her career in finance. After almost a decade in pursuing her passion for numbers, she returned to school for social services and moved west to the Lower Mainland. Tina’s social services work began with child and family violence prevention in high schools and within immigrant and refugee communities which led her to focus on child rights and human rights education, policy advocacy, and the development of child and youth-friendly communities in BC.
Tina now lives on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱ wú7mesh Sḵwx̱ wú7mesh (Squamish), səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh), and kʷikʷəƛ̓əm (Kwikwetlem) Peoples with her family. She is currently a professional art therapist and is working part-time with Health Justice. As a mother of young children, she now experiencing the world through tiny things, nature, playing, open emotions, and creativity.
